Things from Chapter 11 & 15. The differences, the pressing in, what it means.

The intercession is a daily obedience, a daily abiding, and a daily going through. The Holy Ghost is a divine Intercessor. It is part of His ministry on earth to "make intercession for the saints according to God's will... with groanings that cannot be uttered (Rom 8:26,27).

The Holy Ghost can only make intercession through those human temples He indwells; also that He can never intercede in any arbitrary way. But only as far as His channel can become one with Him in so doing.

A prayer warrior can pray for a thing to be done without necessarily being willing for the answer to come through himself; and he is not even bound to continue in the prayer until it is answered.

But an Intercessor is responible to gain his objective, and he can never be free till he has gained it. Once the postion is gained, tested and proved, the intercessor can claim all the blessings on that grade, whenever it is God's will for him to do so.

The secret for us to do what Jesus did requires that we believe and act on the promise that we can do what He did.

Things I seen thru out this book. Rees went to depths of experiencing the very thing he would be interceding for. He would experience the same suffering for example. Times he was called to do things out of the ordinary. Similar things like when Ezekiel could not weep for his wife, or Isaiah going naked and barefoot in the warning to Israel.

Paying the price, being a cleansed Temple for the Holy Ghost to use him. A compassion for them he served, a passion for the Gospel and mission to build the Kingdom. Being sensitive to any needs people had wherever he went. That the Father would be glorified.

He knew he had to depend on God to provide, he stood in geniune faith. Not moving because of the Spiritual attacks from the enemy trying to get him to doubt. He stood very strong in all that would try to get him to act upon his own. He kept alert to the wiles of the devil, using the full Armor of God. Binding the enemy and boldly confessing the Word of God. Jesus was his strength and Strong Tower.

Prayer notes: Let us advance in our growth on our knees.

The power in prayer is from the One Who hears it. Prayer is the key that unlocks faith in our loves. Effective prayer needs both an attitude-complete dependence and a action asking belief. Prayer demonstrates our reliance on God as we humbly invite Him to fill us with faith and power. There is no substitute for prayer, especially in circumstances that seem impossible. Only believe when you ask, as if you have all ready recieved it.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

True prayer is nothing more & nothing less than communion with the Father. Whether you are involved in worship, intercession, petition, or thanksgiving. It is all directed to the One, God the Father.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. :8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

The word "abide" means to be at home with, to dwell with. When you abide with someone, you get to know them. The condition is that you are to abide in Him, and His Word to abide in you. The condition is the key to knowing the will of God. Know His Word, His promises use the Scriptures in your prayers, and stand on them firm, meditate on them untill they are in your heart, mind & soul.

Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. :14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Jesus intercedes for us, we see here we ask in His Name.

Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. :26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. :27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

As a believer, you are not left to your own resources to cope with problems. Even when you don't know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for you, and God answers. With God helping you pray, you don't need to be afraid to come before Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you "in accordance with God's will".

Praying in the Spirit, can be done with understanding, you can be given revelations, instructions, sanctification and unlocking the mysteries of the Gospel. And it brings Truths into the Light.

The Holy Spirit distributes the revelation gifts so we can minister to others in a like manner as Jesus did. (1 Cor 14:4) (Jude 20) (1 Cor 12: 7-11)

Praying and worshiping in tongues edifies the believer spiritually and builds up the inner spirit. (1 Cor 14 14-15) It allows us to enter into the realm of the supernatural. We are communicating with the Lord in the nartual and supernational dimensions. Praying in the Spirit allows us to hear words of instruction, recieve revelation and may give us interpretation of what the Holy Spirit is saying. (1 Cor 14:26)

Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Chapter 12, "What is an Intercessor? Notes & Quotes.

Intensified prayer, with great emphasis on the word "intensified." There are 3 things seen in an intercessor that differ from ordinary prayer: identification, agony and authority.

Jesus intercedes for us to the Father, the One in the heavens, on the Throne pleading for us.

Identification is the first law of the intercessor. One pleads effectively because one gives their life for those one pleads for. The Intercessor is their genuine representative, submerged self-interest in the needs and sufferings as far as possible, almost literally taking their place.

There is another Intercessor, and in Him we see the agony of this ministry; for He, the Holy Spirit, maketh intercession for us with groaning's which cannot be uttered." This One, the only present Intercessor on earth, has not hearts upon which He can lay His burdens, and no bodies through which He can suffer and work, except the bodies and hearts of those who are His dwelling place. Through them He does his intercessory work on earth, and they become intercessors by reason of the Intercessor within them.

Before He can do that he has to deal with all that is natural in them. Our bodies are the Temple, we must be yielded to deal with self, walk purified, cleansed. We must be surrendered, to the ways of Christ in thoughts, love and service. It is no theoretical death, but a real crucifixion with Christ. The self must be released from itself to become the agent of the Holy Spirit.

As crucifixion proceeds, intercession begins. By inner burdens, by calls to outward obedience, the Spirit begins to live His own life of love and sacrifice for a lost world through his cleansed channel.

Every greatly used instrument of God has been, in his measure, an intercessor. Intercession is more than the Spirit sharing His groaning's with us and living His life of sacrifice for the world through us. It is the Spirit gaining his ends of abundant grace. If the intercessor knows identification and agony, he also know authority. If it die, it bring forth fruit.

Intercession is not substitution for sin. There has only been one substitution for sin, one substitute for the world of sinners, Jesus the son of God. Intercession so identifies the intercessor with the sufferer that it gives him a prevailing place with God. A intercessor moves God, gains the objection or rather the Spirit gains it through the intercessor.

The price is paid, the obedience fulfilled, the inner wrestling's and groaning's take their full course, and then "the Word of the Lord comes". The weak channel is clothed with authority by the Holy Ghost and can speak words of deliverance. "Greater works can be done."

When an intercessor has gained the place of intercession in a certain realm. Then he has entered into "the gift of faith"; along that special lines the measureless sea of God's grace is open to him. That is the gained place of intercession.

I have read many things about praying in the Spirit. That gave Saints a open heaven and to do the greater things then these as Jesus spoke of in the Word. Doing what Jesus did. Some that have prayed for hours in the Spirit, and gaining revelations of the mysteries of the Gospel. Being sanctified in their hearts and minds in being cleansed. In the same matters Rees spoke about in dying to self. Being yielded & surrendered for the the Spirit to work through them.

Many of the things I read about these experiences, these folks had no idea how they were going to be used. Things just happened and they reacted in obedience and would do what was revealed to them to do right on the spot. Intensified praying session's as well and devotion were common grounds compared to that of the Intercessor. With fruit as a result.

The key in both of these ask and you will receive like things to praying. Is a place for the Spirit to work and use one for the sake of the Kingdom.

Psa 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: :24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

A study in becoming a "Intercessor"

Here I'll be getting some keys from different sources. This first part is being taken from the book: Rees Howells Intercessor. Chapter Nine "Binding the Strong Man" by Norman Grubb. What a great testimony of what Christ done through him and Gods call on his life. And he was a faithful servant. His dedication to intercession, the Word of God, His kingdom, his giving and love for others.

The results of his praying and endurance did bring big time fruit for missionaries, the lost, them without, healings, and deliverance's. His ministry grew as well and many Saints joined in with him during WWII with testimony that is not in the history books. But God heard their cry and intervened. The documentations of these things are brought out in this book and they just leave one in awe.

I could see he did as Jesus did and said to do in praying as we read in Bible. Tested in each measure of faith he ventured. He pressed in for the fight, in comparison to sweating drops of blood in relationship to gaining the result. Standing in accordance to God's will as spelled out in His Word. No matter what tried to come against his quest. It's an amazing read.

Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

This key text makes it plain that the promise is unlimited, but the fulfilment depends on the abiding. Guarding ones place in abiding. A key verse to abiding here we see in 1 John 2:6.

1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Which means being willing for the Holy Spirit to live through you the life the Savior would have lived, if He had been in your place. We would call it today surrendered.

Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

The Spirit searching ones heart, the eyes of your heart in thoughts and speech, actions. The Spirit throwing light on our daily life. Revealing any motives or actions that needed confession and brought into the obedience of Christ, cleansed in the Blood.

1Jn 2:6 Those who say that they live in him must live the same way he lived.

Purified in obeying the truth through the Spirit.

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

How can one come into God's presence unless he has obeyed all that had been given him on the previous day. It takes acts of obedience to empower the Holy Spirit.

Any transgression are not to be repeated, but specific obedience on that point stressed until a radical inward changes is effected.

Mr. Howells maintained this abiding by spending a set time of waiting upon God everyday during the period in which the intercession lasted. The Holy Spirit would then speak to him through the Word, revealing any standard that would he was to come up too. Particularly in "the laws of the Kingdom" --- the Sermon on the Mount.

Spending time in ones prayer closet, praying in the Spirit. Standing on the Scriptures in accordance to God's will in the petition. Worship Him, being in His presence. Giving thanks.

The life is in the Vine. As the branch remains united to it by abiding in it, that life of the Vine produces the fruit of the branch. In other words the power is in Christ. As the intercessor remains united to Him by abiding in Him. His power operates through the intercessor and accomplishes what needs to be done.

Day by day being increasingly conscious that the Spirit was engaging the enemy in battle and overcoming him, until finally becoming fully assured of the victory. The Spirit would tell Mr. Howells that the intercession was finished, the position gained. He then would await the visible deliverance in praise and faith.

There are degrees and stages in abiding. The deeper the oneness, the more the power of the risen life of Christ can operate though the channel, and new spiritual authority be gained.

Rees Howells intercessions would at times be perfect and the victory claimed. Yet there where still more things prompted him in which he was to become more like Jesus.

The cleansing is deep, it means dying daily to self, moment by moment. Like a sanctification renewal of the flesh. And the challenge in serving in all things you encounter. There was like a preparation Mr. Howells went through before he became a intercessor. He said after this he maintained this stance. It became his nature after dealing with his nature. Crucifying the flesh is an everyday importance.

Because the devil will be in warfare to stop this measure of faith one seeks. And waiting, remember in Daniel the battle in the heavens waiting on his prayer to be answered. The power in prayer is from the One who hears the prayer.

It takes some knee time, seeking God's face. This preparation noted above is important, it is fighting the Good fight.

You've heard the little things are important to God, because if He cannot trust you in the little things, how can He in something big. Mr. Howells started out that way. His goal was always for the sake of the Kingdom.

These next verses are key instructions in dying to self and fighting the fight and having wisdom and spiritual knowledge of being in the image of Christ. Yielded and surrendered to the Holy Spirit. So one will hear His voice. It takes acts of obedience to empower the Holy Spirit.

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. :8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. :12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. :13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) :5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; :6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. :5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. :6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. :7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. :8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. :6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. :7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
